our Story
Tasteful Girl is a female-owned and run festival fashion brand, built by a mom-and-daughter duo and rooted in love, creativity, and community.
Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, every piece is still cut and sewn by hand in our downtown studio, just the way we started.
My journey began in 2012 at my very first rave. I fell instantly in love, not just with the music, but with the people, the freedom, and the magic of being able to show up exactly as you are… or whoever you want to be that night. I was inspired by how expressive and fearless the community was, and I knew I wanted to bring fashion-forward, intentional pieces into that space.. designs that felt elevated, powerful, and unforgettable.
As Tasteful Girl has grown, staying true to our handmade roots has always been non-negotiable. My mom still hand-makes every piece alongside our small team, including our incredible seamstress Lyndee. Every stitch, trim, and detail is done with care, not in a factory, but by hands that genuinely love what they create.
We pour so much heart into every collection, and our hope is simple: when you put on a Tasteful Girl piece, you don’t just wear it, you feel it. Confident. Magnetic. Present. THAT girl.
Tasteful Girl is more than clothing. It’s a reminder that dreams are worth chasing. If I can build this from passion, love, and a sewing machine... anyone can.
OUR FOUNDER
Meet Tara
Tasteful Girl was born from a lifelong love of fashion, self-expression, and creating without apology.
I grew up obsessed with fashion, magazines stacked high, bold outfits, experimental makeup, and a deep desire to create my own looks. I was often told I was “too much,” but that never stopped me. That passion followed me into the rave and festival community, where I fell in love with the freedom to be whoever you want to be in the moment.
Today, I get to wake up and create every day alongside my mom and our small team, handmaking each piece with intention and heart. I’m endlessly grateful to be chasing my dreams, even on the hard days, because this community makes it all worth it.
I recently became a mom, and if anything, it’s only strengthened my drive. I’m just getting started.
Fabrication & Sustainability
Every Tasteful Girl piece is handmade in small batches in our Salt Lake City studio. By producing thoughtfully and avoiding mass manufacturing, we’re able to reduce waste and create garments meant to be worn, loved, and kept. As we grow, we’re committed to continuing to learn and make choices that honor both our people and the planet.
